What: Halloween costumes often don’t make the list of essentials in the family budget and kids tend to have to wear old, incomplete or ill-fitting costumes.
How:
Create a festive flyer asking for new and clean gently used costumes. (see how on the marketing page)
Give very detailed instructions for used costumes with how to bag (ziplock) and label.
- Write description of costume.
- Add a photo of costume if possible.
- Label sizing - specify size and mention if infant, child, teen, adult.
- Put in a clear ziplock bag with the note showing through. See example in the photos below.
If you plan to do it again the following year, you can stock up on costumes after Halloween. There are big sales online at Party City, Amazon, etc.
Where: Donate to a local organization like the Boys and Girls Clubs a few weeks before Halloween so they have time to pick out costumes.
If you don't host a costume drive, but have a few costumes you want to donate, you can ship them to 'WEEN DREAM, a non-profit that collects all year round for kids.
