What: Collect toys for children in need for the holidays. At this often stressful time of year some parents aren’t able to to provide gifts for their children. Every child should experience the joy of the holidays.

How:

  • Find the organization to be the recipient and figure out what age group they want you to collect for, or you can collect all ages.

  • Make a colorful flyer (see marketing page for what to add).

  • You can make an amazon wishlist if you are inviting people outside of your local area to join. The gifts will get sent directly to you. It’s a lot of fun to see tons of boxes showing up at your house! Keep the gifts unwrapped so they can be distributed to the appropriate children.

  • Ask friends and family to donate a toy instead of giving you a gift on your birthday.

  • If you are collecting for all ages, encourage teen gifts, as this is an age that is usually overlooked when people are buying for a gift drive.

  • Invite your classmates from school or other activities (clubs or sports, etc) to join you to spread the word.

Who: Non-profit children’s organization, local shelter, or a Title 1 school (see link in Charitable Organizations page to find one near you)

About SASHA

IMG_1198.JPG

I am currently a High School Student.  Since I was in 5th grade, I have done a lot of community service geared towards helping kids through my family’s non-profit. I have participated in and led many different types of events and programs. Friends and classmates have often asked me for ideas about where to volunteer or how to run a community service program. I thought it would be useful to put my experiences and suggestions all in one place so people can find things that interest them.

Any questions?
